Leek is versatile and tastes first class. Wok or (stir)fry, stew or braise, leek is delicious in many dishes. Leek is a healthy vegetable and is full of fibre, vitamins and minerals. Moreover, leek is available all year round.
The best care for tasty and healthy leeks
We grow summer and winter leeks in the open field. We grow different varieties, suitable for the season in which they are grown. We select varieties that are less susceptible to diseases in order to use as little crop protection as possible. In winter we protect the leeks with fleece against the cold. We meet the strictest standards and are certified Global Gap and FSSC.
We grow leeks all year round. For this purpose we put small leek plants that grow into a harvestable product in 90 to 150 days. Putting the plants is handcrafted. Before our people go to work, the field is worked with a machine that makes small holes in the ground in which the plants are placed.
Successful cultivation starts with ensuring a healthy soil. For this we use the cultivation of Tagetes (Afrikaantjes) which ensure that harmful nematodes disappear from the soil. During the cultivation of leeks we keep the crop free of diseases by using crop protection. For this we choose means that have as little impact on the environment as possible.
Harvesting and packaging
We harvest our leeks mechanically after which they are transported to our company in large crates. At our company the leeks are stored in cold stores until the moment of delivery. Before delivery, the leeks are cleaned and packed in crates.
